classes @ Gerard Studio

I am taking Saturday classes with Jim Gerard. This last week i was SO HAPPY. I got the models face to look just right. Her hair looked good too. Here is a snippet of my drawing...

Castle

The extra block was put to use. Instead of a garage pad, I now have a castle!

humph, rain!

I repaint the red every year in July. Today it decided to rain within 5 minutes of me finishing! It was a perfectly pretty morning too. But no~ had to make the last few stripes runny.  Ah well, that part will fade by next year and i'll paint it again.

today's art homework

Pastels make practice fast but frustrating. Perhaps I'll do yet another practice sketch on this page. (Yes,that was a start on some sunflowers behind it but it never got more than 5 minutes of attention.) Practice, practice, practice.

Spring

This is a new self portrait collage entitled "Spring".
I'll be getting frames for the last few pieces of art soon.

final sewing

I've finished with the sewing "art form". Two spring pillows now adorn my couch. (While snow is falling outside. Oh the irony.) I also hemmed two new pair of work pants. Toss that machine back in the closet and bring my my art box! I'm ready to get back to drawing.

Sewing blitz

I changed to a different medium for this week's artwork.
I got out the big pile of sewing projects. I am happy to say I now have three new skirts (Hello Spring!) and a better working Muppets bag.
I thought of putting inside pockets in my new spring dress coat. And I should make covers for three different pillows. With so many choices of art medium the big question is,
What shall I do next?

The Unknown

This picture started in January and has finished in March. It's an emotional statement. I've left art college, I've left my job, and I'm heading into the unknown. But God is the light, no matter the obstacles or fears, I am headed toward His light.

Painted Shoes

A woman saw my advertisement for murals and asked me to paint her little girl's shoes. ~ Sure :-)

Fantasy: peony

Poetry floats down
on my pale pink peony
melt, swim, live again.

This was the after image of a dream. The haiku came 11pm the next night.
It was fun following a fantasy. I hope you enjoy it.

Duckie

It's finish up a project day.
This duck was started so long ago  that i don't even really want to think about it.
But TODAY it was finished and framed.

fidget control

I hope to find a client for a mural or other artwork soon. This "art" is to keep my hands busy. It's a pretty puzzle full of mythical fantasies. Things like this keep the mind and hands working.

Auntie Day w/ #3

I've now made my fourth poof. (Like a bean bag but stuffed with paper.) She was trilled to have her own poof. And it ended up bigger than her sister's poof so she couldn't be happier. I enjoyed the fact that I didn't mess up and have to pull it apart. This is the first time a sewing project went together without having to back track. That feels good. Perhaps I've started something- happy kid & happy sewing.
