YES

 Yes, i am making lots of things out of wood. But they are all Christmas gifts for family members who may or may not follow my blog. I will post pictures later. I'm having so much fun!

The string of beautiful leaves popped off the plant a few weeks ago. I stuck it in the test tube polygon that i made a few years ago. It was so perfect that i had to paint it. It turned out really well. 

The problem is that the rest of the room and accompanying rose would have taken SO much time and been SO detailed that i decided to stop with the main idea. Yup.

 It was Fall break so i set out to make an advent wreath.  I bought a band saw! The advent wreath stalled. So I made some simple projects. This is my first cheese board...i think that's what it is.

I am SO happy that I have done a painting! We all go through dry spells creatively or emotionally. But the painting side of myself kicked back on with this.  I hope i can keep painting.  Maybe even just a pretty picture next? 

God's Bible box

 One man had a dream, one man had wood, and i have power tools! 

I'm sure you've seen the "free little library" boxes in your neighborhood too. A church member had a great idea to give out Bibles for free. I was so happy to use my Dad's tools to make something for God & the community. 

Chaise Lounge chair

 This is the BIG ONE. This is what I started over Spring Break. This is what I've spent weekends on. This is my custom fit, DIY, chaise lounge chair. 

It may not be perfect but i like it. I like it b/c it is DONE. 

I can sit & read a book, I can watch traffic navigate the flooded intersection whenever it storms. Or i can lay it back & take a nap outside on the porch. I am so happy for this project, and the porch makeover, to be complete.

 I'm hooked on glass beads. It's like wearable marbles! So this is what I created tonight.

Last year I made one very successful painting of some tulips. I wanted to try again. I feel like this trio is successful.

Painting a corner

 It felt like a good challenge to paint wood grain. But to paint a shadowy corner upgraded the challenge.  I learned alot. I'm also pround of the fact that this one only took 2 days.

 One bunch of grocery store flowers lead to (one ugly failure and) two beautuful paintings that I'm very happy about. 

Paper Flowers

 I am still working on flowers as a main subject of work. Creating in 3D is a chanllenge for me but why not try a new, inexpensive way to build a form. 

Today I created the drippy tangle of flowers shown here. Yes, the paper is the centers of a book I hollowed out for my nephew years ago. I like the texture the text adds to the flower.  

Later this weekend I want to work with a origami rose pattern I found. Let me know

Christmas break report

 

Three puzzles, failed attempt #5 on a wood project, sucess on this simpler wood project.  I also want to report that I have learned to do nothing (watch TV, moveis, etc.) which is a big development for me. I also did not plan a room renovation or mural. So yes, I've grown alot personally in 2020.

Pray that I can ballance in 2021 and grow artistically.
